any one taking Pristiq??

Post a new topicby Malutox6 on Tue Jul 15, 2008 5:37 pm

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone was taking Pritiq and if so how it was working or if it was working. I was on Effexor for about 3 years and then decided to come off. It was a horrible withdrawal. Recently I have started having panic attacks and crying jags again related to some major life changes. My doc wanted to try the pristiq. Just wondering if anyone out there had any opinions good or bad.

Thanks

Melanie

I don't take Pristiq, but check out this link - it was first posted at Psych Central by Dr. John Grohol. It's a weblog authored by a psychiatrist and essentially he says that Pristiq is just a fancy name to extend the patent on Effexor - the same drug IOW. It allows the pharmaceutical company to continue making big $$$.

Thank you for the info. I had heard this info previously. I ahve now been on the drug for about 1 month and I absolutely do feel better. I feel better than I did with the effexor. Not sure what it will be like coming off in the future but for now it seems okay. again thankyou for the info.

I've been taking Pristiq for 7 weeks and I feel fantastic. I had been taking Welbutrin for years and also Zoloft for the past year. Although that combination seemed to help my depression, I felt horrible all the time. As soon as I weaned off Zoloft and about 2 weeks after taking Pristiq I feel like myself again for the first time in years. I have energy, a positive outlook on life, no more aches and pains, I'm sleeping better. Now if I could only lose the 25 pounds I've picked up during the past couple of years.

Good luck!

Glad to hear that things are going well. I have been on now since july and still feel pretty good. I do think it is definitely working and so far no side effects.
hope things continue to go well for you.
