IVU/Ultrasound/X Ray

Post a new topicby MontseBenitez on Sun Nov 04, 2007 11:22 am

After years of repeated UTIs I recently underwent ultrasound and x rays and was told, initially, that one of my kidneys is scarred at its upper pole and "full" at the bottom, whilst the other one is healthy.

This is all I was told. I was then sent for an IVU and have a follow up appointment to see the doctor on 22 November.

I am confused by what he told me, though. He said the scarring was irreversible and that the "fullness" can only be likened to somebody who is overweight.

I am not overweight. So what does he mean by fullness?

Also, I was under the impression that IVU examinations take an hour and there are up to four images taken. I had only two taken, one before the dye was injected and one five minutes later.

Can anyone shed some light?
